Why Choose Shaolin Kung Fu

Why Choose Shaolin Kung Fu?

Aims & Objectives
In all forms of training whether it be Qigong, Taijiquan or Shaolin Kung Fu it would be useful to have reasonable aims and objectives. Why is this so? This is because when a student or practitioner has aims and objectives it enhances not only their training but their level of attainment.

A practitioner or student can set out several measurable objectives and aims, we may want to consider the following;

Good Health & Vitality
In Qigong this is the most likely aim for a student to attain is to maintain good health and Vitality. This is also a good platform for further development in the Arts of Shaolin Kung Fu and Taijiquan

Self Defence and Combat Efficiency
This is the initial aim for Shaolin Kung Fu and Taijiquan, learning to be self defence means learning a real martial art through methodical combat application. This then leads to Combat efficiency.

Development of Character
In particular when we practice Kung Fu and Taijiquan we can develop ourselves through challenges from Kung Fu philosophy, sparing, regular practice, qigong, mind training, self commitment, and by learning & acknowledging some form of understanding of the 10 Shaolin Laws.

To extend the aims of Shaolin Kung Fu, Taijiquan  and Qigong we can also add;

Mind Cultivation
Mind cultivations starts from the beginning of training, we integrate Qigong as part of a triple cultivation practice that enhances our health, everyday performance, understanding of life through philosophy, principles and practice. When a student practices regularly mind cultivates, life changes and we become more relaxed and at peace with the world.

Spiritual Cultivation
The Shaolin Kung Fu & Taijiquan are more than just a martial art, through character development, meditation techniques and through use of specific methods that were passed on by the past masters, we can attain qualities like tolerance, endurance and perseverance.

Some of the more advanced methods of the past masters that are taught in our schools are, Golden Bridge”, “Small Universe” & “Lifting Water”.
Ultimately practicing both Shaolin Kungfu and Taijiquan cultivate the mind that ultimately leads to spiritual fulfilment.

A Quote from the Grandmaster

If our first patriarch, the great Jiang Nan, had not taken our Shaolin arts out of China, these wonderful arts might be lost to the world. Instead of wasting our time attempting to prove our lineage or the benefits of our arts to sceptics, we should spend our time enhancing our arts and teaching them to deserving people so that we can pass on these wonderful arts to posterity. That was the aim of the Venerable Jiang Nan, and earlier of Bodhidharma Bodhisattva

Even if you have a rare chance to learn high level Shaolin Kungfu but if you do not practice it regularly and sufficiently, you many not have many benefits. You may know kungfu history and philosophy in theory, but you may not be able to defend yourself, have good health, vitality and longevity, and experience peace and spiritual joy.
